Rain and snow today, The summit officially starts. Everyone is coming in today, as we check in and get our swag/information bags from ZERO Prostate Cancer. You get to select badge ribbons to show your experience with prostate cancer. The ribbons you can choose from are; survivor, advocate, caregiver, leadership, first time attendee.
We meet and greet the arriving attendees. Everyone has a story about their prostate cancer journey. The one thing you hear is the passion about their support in the battle against prostate cancer.
Our first training session covers state advocacy, The staff with ZEROPC are so knowledgeable, passionate, and informative about navigating through the government to get support for prostate cancer initiatives. There are only a few states that have passed bills supporting prostate cancer initiatives. We need to have all states get on board with ZEROPC.
Later in the evening we attend the Bold for Blue recognition awards ceremony. Their are some great people in the world doing so much for prostate cancer. One person climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness about prostate cancer and raised over $200,000. Then there was the advocate patient with 4th stage prostate cancer that cycled throughout the United States, over a thousand miles, to raise money for the cause! There are so many inspirational prostate cancer patients and their families.
We are looking forward to training on Monday.
